Educational Qualification for the post of ISRO Scientist:
ISRO is notifying vacancies for the post of Scientist/Engineer both on B.E./B.Tech. basis and M.E. / M.Tech. basis. The qualification with certain merit is prerequisite for applying for the post. Details are as below:
For B.E / B.Tech post – B.E / B.Tech with an aggregate minimum of 65% (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10 point scale.
For M.E / M.Tech post – M.E / M.Tech with an aggregate minimum of 60% or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10 point scale with pre-eligibility qualification of B.E / B.Tech with an aggregate minimum of 65% (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10 point scale.
Age Limit to become ISRO Scientist:
For B.E./B.Tech based Recruitment – Age limit is 28 Years.
For M.E./M.Tech based Recruitment – Age limit is 30 Years.
Age Relaxation to the categories as applicable as per Govt. Of India orders. Viz. OBC – 3 Years of age relaxation ; SC/ST – 5 Years of age relaxation etc.
New Recruitment Procedure to become ISRO Scientist
First Level of exam comprised of the following:
Written Test – Mostly Online, Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Part A : Discipline specific Multiple Choice Question (MCQs)
Note : 1/3rd Negative Marking
- Part B : Aptitude Ability Test MCQs based with no negative markings.
- Part C : Descriptive questions for M.E./M.Tech. post alone. The descriptive question will be kind of Technical Question relevant to main specialisation / discipline notified in the advertisement.
Second Level of Exam:
Interview: Based on the performance of the candidate in the Written Exam, candidates will be shortlisted for interview in 1:5 ratio.
Pass Criteria:

Thereafter, a panel or the list in order of merit will be made. It is to be noted that, 50% weightage will be given to written test marks and 50% weightage to the interview. Put together scores will be arranged in descending order, and that will be the merit list.

ISRO Scientist Salary
The salary of an ISRO Scientist varies depending on their rank, experience and the pay scale.
Scientist/Engineer – SC (Entry Level) – Pay Scale : Rs. 56,100 to Rs 1,77,500 (Level 10 as per the 7th Pay Commission)
Here is the calculation:
Basic Pay : 56,100 + Dearness Allowance @ 50% at present
HRA @ 30% for X class of city (Say, if on selection you are posted at the cities like Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad etc.),
Transport Allowance : 7200 + Dearness Allowance @50% at present
If you will calculate above the gross salary at the induction level will be Rs. 1,11, 780.
Other benefits like subsidized canteen food, central government employee related welfare schemes, remarkable health facility etc. will be an ad-on features.

- National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), Hyderabad – Remote Sensing satellite data reception processing and dissemination to various Ministries, Departments, and different other users is entrusted to NRSC.

Geographical Locations: As evident above, ISRO’s major centres are located in specific cities.
High Pressure: All the critical missions are planned to be achieved in time bound manner, which may lead to stress sometimes.
Financial Rewards: Though merit is valued as prime in ISRO, however, the promotions is effected within the ambit of rules as prescribed by the Department.
